Why do people idolize Columbine shooters?
Contrary to popular belief, they were in fact bullied, and the claim they weren’t stems from people like Dave Cullen who want to twist reality to fit their own agendas. I was abused at home and at school for eighteen years, with the teachers being indifferent, claiming I brought it on myself or encouraging the abuse. When I first read about the Columbine massacre at thirteen I was enthralled. The possibility of striking back in such a way was intoxicating, allowing me to be something more than just a victim in my fantasies. Although I never went through with it, it is the only thing that got me through school. Arguably it might have been better if I did, as due to the abuse I have attempted suicide six times in one week and had two psychotic breakdowns. Faced with such a future, who wouldn’t want to go out and make their abusers sorry for every nasty little thing they’ve ever done?
